World Meteorological Day (WMD) is commemorated annually on March 23 as one of the United Nation (UN) International Days. The 2017 Photo and Poem Competition and other scheduled activities to celebrate WMD are aimed at engaging the public more in the realities of understanding clouds and how it has affected increasing and decreasing rainfall and the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events in Jamaica.
